Fiction & Short Stories
Developmental Editing
The first edit you need. Developmental editing is the big-picture pass: plot structure, pacing, character arcs, point-of-view consistency, and recommendations for scenes that need cutting or expanding. Delivered as in-line comments plus an editorial letter.
Works for full manuscripts and short fiction alike; for shorter pieces this often condenses into a single detailed edit letter rather than a full inline pass.
Comprehensive Copy + Line Editing
Copy and line edits often get lumped together, but they’re not quite the same thing. A line edit is like cooking: it’s creative, stylistic, and some of it comes down to taste. It works on rhythm, repetition, dialogue, and sentence-level flow.
A copyedit is more like baking: precise and technical, with specific rules. It covers grammar, punctuation, consistency, and word usage.
This service includes both passes, plus a style sheet so the manuscript stays consistent from start to finish. These can also be split into separate line and copy passes if that’s a better fit for your project.
